Qantas quits San Francisco in favor of Dallas

Get ready to see the Flying Kangaroo in Texas.

In case you missed this news last week, Australian carrier Qantas announced it is shelving service to San Francisco in favor of flights to Dallas/Fort Worth — the hub and hometown airport of oneworld partner American.

Air Transport World sums up the move, writing:
“Oneworld partners Qantas and American Airlines are to strengthen their longstanding relationship with the first step being the introduction by Qantas of four times weekly Boeing 747-400 service from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth International from May 16. At the same time the airline has decided to scrap its direct Sydney-San Francisco flights from May 14.”

Qantas’ Texas-bound flight will operate nonstop from Sydney, though the return flight will make a stop in Brisbane, Australia, before continuing on to Sydney.
